Layering the Land | 37'w x 48'd x 18' h | Mixed media | 2007
This site-specific work is installed at the Marygrove College Gallery, which is an educational and religious organization that both institutionally and physically creates an environment for cultivating the mind. The drawings that are done on a floor of the space in vinyl adhesive tape are based on original blueprints of the building. The chairs, desks and benches are selected from the furniture that belongs to the building. By repositioning it and reversing of the architectural elements from outside to inside, I tried to make a comment about Marygrove's past and present history. Playing with our perception, I alter normal expectation of the place.
